Jerry Richardson, the owner of the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League is doing great only 4 months after a heart transplant.
The 72 year old owner received his new heart on the same day as the Super Bowl, after only 2 months on the transplant list.
The prognosis for the billionaire is good now, but before his new heart became available, his health was very poor and death was near at hand.
He showed up at his player’s practice facility riding a golf cart, and was greeted by a standing round of applause from his players.
“I thought he looked great,” coach John Fox said. “He’s getting stronger by the day and everything is going well. It was great to see him out here.”
“He’s not just an owner by name,” said quarterback Jake Delhomme. “He’s one that many guys on the team have a relationship with and not just, ‘Hey how are you doing?’ It’s a true relationship where he knows your family and knows your kids. It’s something that goes unnoticed, but that’s the way he wants it.”
