Good news for coffee drinkers as a new study suggests that caffeine can reduce risk of skin cancer
Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - Good news for coffee drinkers as a new study suggests that caffeine can reduce risk of skin cancer.

Millions of pounds of coffee are ground and drunk daily by unsuspecting coffee drinkers.

All of these coffee drinkers are unknowingly reducing their risk of skin cancer, which is a lesser form of the disease but very serious none the less.

Researchers say that their finding may lead one day to the creation of actual caffeine creams to fight skin cancer.

They say that the caffeine found in coffee boosts ATR, which is a protein in the human cell that promotes healthy cell growth.

Researchers stress that their study findings do not mean that people should start drinking large amounts of coffee.

“We are by no means recommending that people change their beverage habits,”
said the lead researcher.

The study is published in the online issue of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
