Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - A 13 year old autistic boy named Kenton Weaver has been found after he managed to fly across country after stealing his father’s car.
The boy from Florida has a facination with planes and on Tuesday night, snuck out of his father’s house, drove to the airport and then hopped 2 flights, ending up in California, the home of his mother.
His father is not sure how the boy managed to pull it off, since he does not have any photo identification.
“I really enjoyed it,” Kenton told “Good Morning America” simply. “I talked to a few people.”
“He’ll do anything to go to an airport,” Dean told the Palm Beach Post. ” He wants to be a pilot. He applies for jobs at the airport. He collects [toy] planes. He’s just fascinated.”
Kenton has been diagnosed with a type of autism known as Asperger’s Syndrome, which is characterized by an unusual attraction to a given subject or subjects, in his case, airplanes.
His mother, Casey is not surprised that her son managed to pull this off: “I wasn’t shocked that Kenton was able to manage this,” Casey said. “He is just a different type of child.”
