Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - Results of a new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine suggest that older people maybe at an increased risk of falling due to inner ear disfunction.

Having an imbalance in ear pressure can result in a noted lack of balance, which goes a long way to explaining the findings of this new interesting study.

This news comes as the result of a 5000 person survey carried out by researchers from the covetted Johns Hopkins University.

All of the survey respondents were over the age of 40 at time of the survey, with some having ear imbalances, and some perfectly healthy.

The researchers noted that those who reported an inner ear disfunction, were up to 12 times more likely to fall than healthy survey participants.

They also noted that the older a person got, the greater chance they had of developing an inner ear imbalance, which raised their risk of falling even more.
