Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - In a weird twist of events, a 62 year old cancer patient has lost his finger prints due to a drug he was taking called capecitabine.

The man was attempting to enter into the United States to visit relatives, but was detained by customes officials because they could not find his finger prints.

In a letter submitted to the British journal Annals of Oncology, “In December 2008, after more than three years of capecitabine, he went to the United States to visit his relatives.”

“He was detained at the airport customs for four hours because immigration officers could not detect his fingerprints.”

According to a cancer expert, the side effects associated with taking capecitabine include inflammation of the skin, which could explain the lost finger print.
