Doctors from the University of Miami have successfully removed a 2 pound tumor from the face of newborn baby Jordan Jamal Smith.

He was born with the tumor protruding out of his mouth, and until the procedure, his entire face was covered by the mass of skin and liquid containing mass.

This form of tumor, called an epignathus teratoma is a very rare tumor, and nearly killed the little guy during his time in the womb and even during his birth.

His mother was told during the pregnancy that she might want to consider terminating her pregnancy as her child would either die or be mentally retarded.

His mother however held strong, and delivered her son by C-section back in March of this year. He is doing fine and will be going home next week.
