AstraZeneca Knew of Safety Issues With Their Psychiatric Drug Seroquel

Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - AstraZeneca may have knew of pre-existing risks associated with their drug Seroquel.
This shocking accusation is the result of an investigation into the company that found that company employees may have knew up to 10 years ago that the psychiatric drug was dangerous.
The British drug maker is facing a massive class action lawsuit, from patients who developed diabetes and significant weight gain after they started taking the drug to treat their mental health issues.
In documents released today, it is crystal clear that the company knew of risks associated with the drug, but kept them quiet.
The FDA approved Seroquel back in 1997, and many are now saying that if they had known of the apparent risks associated with it, the drug would never of been approved.
“AstraZeneca believes that the Seroquel (detailed package insert) has always provided adequate and appropriate information and warnings based on available data,” said a spokesman for the company.
Stocks of AstraZeneca fell today in afternoon trading after news of the released documents hit the wire.
