Results of a new study show that treating women with hormone replacement therapy raises their risk of death from lung cancer.
Women experiencing menopause symptoms are often prescribed hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as this is one way to ease their symptoms.
Lung cancer is the most deadly form of cancer as it is, and now this study has proven that HRT can make it even more lethal.
According to the results of the study, women taking HRT were 60% more likely to die from their lung cancer than women not taking HRT.
According to Dr. Rowan Chlebowski of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center women taking HRT drugs who smoke should consult with their doctors, and those thinking about taking the drugs should not.
