It is being reported that AstraZeneca in combination with Abbott have filed an approval application to the Food and Drug Administration for their cholesterol drug.
Their drug goes by the name of Certriad, and is a combination pill containing both Crestor and TriLipix for the lowering of bad levels of cholesterol.
Crestor is one of the biggest money makers for AstraZeneca, and TriLipix is an Abbott drug which raises good cholesterol levels.
The companies hope that by joining their drugs together, they will be able to offer the best combination cholesterol lowering drug currently on the market.
“If approved, Certriad could become an important treatment option for physicians looking to provide comprehensive management of mixed dyslipidemia to their patients,” said Eugene Sun, vice president of global pharmaceutical clinical development at Abbott.
