Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - Advocates for medicinal marijuana use are flying high as the US Attorney General has announced an end to raids of pot plants that are legal under state laws.

Previous to this ruling, all marijuana grow operations were subjected to federal law, even if they were legal under state law.

This now means that individual states will have full control and power over marijuana growing operations, and many believe that it will lead to more states legalizing the drug.

The move to terminate raids by the Drug Enforcement Agency was set in motion by newly elected President Barack Obama, who said that individual states should be in charge of their own marijuana grow ops.

“What the president said during the campaign, you’ll be surprised, will be consistent with what we’ll be doing here in law enforcement. What he said during the campaign is now American policy,” Attorney General Holder said.
