Health officials from the country of Saudi Arabia have confirmed the first case of swine flu in the country.

This news comes just a day after the WHO announced their probable intent of raising the swine flu alert to a pandemic level of 6.

The case was confirmed in a Filipina nurse, who arrived in the country this past Friday on a plane from the Philippines.

“She wasn’t showing any symptoms then when she came back … She started showing some symptoms on Monday,” said the country’s health minister.

Authorities are in the process of attempting to notify all who may have come into contact with the woman so they can be tested for the presence of the virus.

Since the outbreak of swine flu began, 18,500 cases have been reported to the World Health Organization spanning 46 countries.
