Illinois Mother Dies From H5N1 After Giving Birth To Baby

A chicago woman has died from swine flu just one day after giving birth to a baby at the University of Illinois Medical Center.
The 20-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital back on May 23 due to flu like symptoms and her condition got worse and worse as the days passed.
She was diagnosed with both pneumonia and the H5N1 swine flu virus, and doctors rushed quickly to save her baby.
On May 29, doctors performed a c-section and saved the 27 week old fetus. The baby is now in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The swine flu virus has now claimed the lives of more than 150 people, with cases being reported from multple continents and as many as 60 countries.
In Mexico, where the virus is said to have originated, more than 55 deaths have been reported alone.
