HealthKnowItAll) - It is being reported that restaurant chains operating across the United States will soon need to adc calory counts to their menu boards.

The proposed legislation would mean that all restaurant chains with more than 20 outlets across the country would have to provide specific calory info for meals on the menu.

This as you may guess, will obviously show patrons how much calories they are taking in, but will it actually act as a deterrent when it comes to ordering food?

When I personally go out to eat, I shy away from the healthy stuff, items such as salad that I can make at home, opting for the fatty burgs, tantilizing rib rack and greesy bacon.

Some restaurants that fall into the chain category include Red Lobster and Olive Garden, names that you would not normally identify as being home to calory leaden meals.

Advocates for this legislation say that the move to add calory counts to menus is a good one, as in some cases it may result in a person ordering a healthier alternative.
