Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - A scout leader has confirmed that 8 members of his troop have tested positive for the dreaded H5N1 swine flu virus.
According to reports, it is believed that the kids contracted the virus after coming into contact with another scout troop visiting Camp Daniel Boone in Waynesville, NC.
The virus is generally not fatal in healthy people, and all the children from the scout group are now showing signs of recovering from their infection.
The WHO last week issued a stage 6 alert for swine flu, which means they now view it as a pandemic.
Since the outbreak was identified in Mexico earlier this year more than 27,000 cases have been reported, resulting in more than 100 deaths.
