Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - A massive study has found a link between eating a lot of red meat and an increased risk of heart disease and cancer.

Red meat has been previously thought to be good for you, but this appears to be not the case at all.

Researchers analyzed the eating habits of up to 500,000 US people to reach their study findings.

The people analyzed in the study, were all between 50 and 71 years of age.

They found that the more red meat people ate, the higher their chances of death from all major causes.

The people who were eating the most red meat daily, ate about 170 grams per day.

Subsequently, people found to be eaters of white meat, were less likely to die from heart disease and cancer.

The study can be found in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
