Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - A chemotherapy cream used to prevent a type of skin cancer maybe the next big thing when it comes to reducing wrinkles.
The cream is called Flourouracil and is used to prevent a rare type of skin cancer called actinic keratose which is caused by overexposure to sunlight.
Results of a study showed that initially the application of the cream promoted itchy and irritated skin but after a few days, symptoms passed and wrinkles began to fade.
Participants also noted softer skin when the cream was applied, leading to an overall better appearance.
In total, 21 participants took part in the study, all of whom previously diagnosed with actinic keratoses.
All participants were followed for 6 months, and told to apply the cream to their faces regularly.
Researchers noted that after the initial discomfort passed, participants reported softer skin, and less wrinkles.
This cream may turn out to be the next big thing when it comes to wrinkle removing, because it is cheaper than the alternative which is botox.
