Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - The FDA have issued a warning urging people to stop taking the dietary supplement known as Hydroxycut.
Hydroxycut is marketed to assist in rapid weight loss, and millions of people take it and swear by it when it comes to helping them lose weight.
The FDA have received reports of liver damage and even death in people taking the powerful drug, thus they have issued this latest warning urging dieters and body builders to stop taking it.
The drug is marketed to contain all natural ingredients, but due to a loose law when it comes to regulating supplements, many feel that the company who makes the drug is adding more than just what is on the label.
In total, 14 Hydroxycut products were recalled, but Hydroxycut Cleanse and Hoodia, are not part of the recall.
“The FDA urges consumers to discontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue risk. Adverse events are rare, but exist,” said Dr. Linda Katz, interim chief medical officer in the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
