Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - The FDA is recalling 14 Hydroxycut products after they received reports of liver damage and even death in people taking the drug.

Hydroxycut is marketed as a weight loss drug and is used by people looking to lose weight, and bodybuilders looking to lean out their phisique before competitions.

The drug is probably one of the most popular on the market, as it does work when it comes to reducing body fat percentages.

The agency has also received reports detailing seizures and even heart problems.

“The FDA urges consumers to discontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue risk. Adverse events are rare, but exist,” said Dr. Linda Katz, interim chief medical officer in the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

In total, 14 Hydroxycut products are being recalled, and people currently in possession of any type of Hydroxycut are being urged to throw it away.
