Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - It is being reported that the famous Mayo Clinic has just launched their own version of a personal health records keeping tool.

The clinic have joined forces with Microsoft to create a free web site where people can go and store personal medical data.

Mayo Clinic Health Manager, as it is called, uses Microsoft’s HealthVault system to store confidential personal medical data, that can then be transferred from hospital to hospital or simply be left on the site, in a secure setting.

Users of the site can choose which parts of their medical data are viewable by doctors, making their privacy a top priority.

Google made a big splash last year when they unvailed Google Health, a similar web site that allows for the storing of personal health data.

The web site is very cool as during the initial sign up, which can be done by anybody, not necessarily just a patient, you are prompted to fill out a questionnaire, which is then used to recommend various health options based on the responses of the person filling it out.
