Boston (HealthKnowItAll) - Researchers of a new study say that constant texting by teenagers could be having an effect on their performance in the classroom.
Cellphones have become an essential part of everyday life, especially for teenagers, who are in love with the little devices as they allow for them to keep tabs on their friends.
According to research company Nielsen, teenagers send on average more than 2000 text messages a month, sending them late at night, early in the morning, during and after class time.
Doctors are worried that the texting fad maybe taking its toll on children due to sleep deprevation, anxiety and falling grades due to poor attentiveness.
What makes it easy for teens to text whenever they want too, is the fact that most cellphone carriers offer unlimited text messaging as part of their plan to hook consumers.
Furthermore, parents of kids do not seem to mind their children having cellphones these days, even if it means that their children pay more attention to their phones than to their teachers.
