Whoever thought that a computer could be cause for concern when it came to injuries in and around the home? Well it appears according to a study that the machines can cause harm.

When we think of computer related injuries we think of wrist pain from typing, or blurring vision from spending hours looking at a monitor.

A new study finds a growing number of injuries are being reported from computer equipment falling over, a fact that may actually be funny to many people.

According to researchers of the study, from 1994 to 2006, the number of “acute computer-related injuries” rose by more than 700 percent.

During that study period, children under 5 were the most likely to be hurt by a computer, and 9 out of 10 injuries occured in the home.

We can only think that these injuries could’ve resulted from towers falling over, LCD screens falling over on the keyboard while typing, or some other partially funny mishap.

The researchers published their study findings in the July issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
